.About Corunna Area Ambulance Service

On May 27, 1975, the Corunna Area Ambulance Service opened for business, at 308 W Corunna Ave. Corunna, behind the present Smith Funeral Home, with 30 volunteers. In 1977, we moved to our present location at 610 N Shiawassee St. Corunna, Michigan, formerly Mike's Boat and Motor, and completed the remodeling of our new residence in 1982. As a community service, we provide free coverage at local events such as the Fourth of July Celebration, Crop Walks, and Special Olympics, as well as providing service at sporting events for the Corunna Public Schools. We also provide Emergent 911, Emergency Medical Service (EMS) response with two Advanced Life Support (ALS - Paramedic Care Level) Ambulance Crews and non-emergent hospital-based transportation services with one Basic Life Support (BLS - EMT-B Level Care) Ambulance on an as-needed and available basis.

The CAAS Education Division provides Continuing Education (CE) Classes for its providers and other EMS Professionals. In the fourth quarter of 2023, it is the goal of the CAAS Education Division to establish itself as an industry leading EMS Initial Education Center, and Continuing Education (CE) sponsor/provider located in Shiawassee County. The CAAS Initial Education Division will offer Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) level academy courses beginning in the early months of 2024.

OUR EMPLOYEES

Quality Pre-Hospital Providers

Our EMTs and Paramedics are our greatest assets.

We are continually striving to create a culture of excellence within our organization. While our organization may be small in comparison to many other local EMS Agencies, we pride ourselves in the fact that our employees exceed the county and state requirements for continuing education, training, and certifications.

CAAS currently employs 15 full-time Employees, seven EMT-B and eight Paramedic providers make up the full-time staff, and numerous part-time employees. The service ideally runs two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances seven days a week, 24-hour shifts staffed with a Paramedic and an EMT-B. CAAS also has a Basic Transfer Ambulance available for non-emergent hospital transfers, Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Corunna Area Ambulance Service has established our first Shiawassee County EMS Initial Education program.
